Winter Break 2026

A quiet recharge.

Starting today, I’m off for a week. This is basically a recharge after the busy Christmas season. I wish I could take an actual vacation and go somewhere for a change, but I’m always in a position of barely being able to afford it, so I skip out and keep the financial padding instead. I am okay with being at home though. That said, I have no real plans, which in itself is nice.

I do want to get outside this coming week. The forecast isn’t supposed to be terrible. No precipitation is on the horizon, and temperatures should be about typical for this time of year. I’m feeling the need to be around trees, so I may see if there are any walking trails that are more wooded, but not attached to lakes.

Already, I’m feeling better without the burden of work. My mood is in a good spot this morning. I’m currently writing this from a coffee shop with headphones in while eating oatmeal and drinking a cortado. It’s a good spot to patch up some writing, and I needed breakfast. Next in order is getting some grocery shopping done so I don’t have to live in coffee shops for my first meal of the day this week.

I do want to get some walks in. I will use those walks as excuses to take photos. I want to be in both urban and natural environments. Mostly, I just want to go at my own pace this week. This is my mental reset for the winter. It’s time to rebuild my good habits and get away from some of my bad ones. Ultimately, I want a clean apartment and a clear head come next Saturday.
