On managing myself.

A week ago, I was crashing out a bit. I do this occasionally. I don’t like it, the feeling of it, or anything about it really. What I state is true: I don’t have many real connections where I live. Because people have lives and their own things to deal with, the lack of options means there’s a good chance if I come knocking, there might not be an answer. It is what it is. Sorry if I put a bit too much pressure on anyone.

In the past week, I was reminded of something… maybe a few things. One, I’m responsible for me. My mood is up to me, even if it feels like I have no control over it. Gotta fight that.

Second, diving into the things I love are usually the ticket to my happiness, because those are the things that make me feel whole. Over this past week, that’s been the music I own. I decided to build myself a music server, which isn’t as intense as it seems. It’s a simple install of some software, creating an account, and syncing some folders to the service. This is all free for now, until I decided I want to get more advanced with it. The important thing is getting content on there.

I’m currently typing this from Hardy Coffee Co. in Omaha’s Old Market. Right around the corner from here is a record store I sort of grew up with called Homer’s. They used to have a dozen or so locations back in the 90s between here and Lincoln, but I believe they’re down to just the one location now. It kind of shows just how much the online market and streaming have changed things.

My plan is to walk over there from here, dig around a little bit, and hopefully fill some gaps in my collection for little money. I’m searching for a few artists in particular, but if something else jumps out at me, I might bite on that as well. It’s a bit of a rainy day here, so may I have the best of luck dodging storms today.

From here, I’m going to pick up some things for organization before heading home to rest for the remainder of the day.

Moral of the story is I’m responsible for me, my boredom, and that sometimes boredom can lead to curiosity and that’s a good thing.

This Past Week

Songs in the Chaos

This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
