The Thursday Dispatch - 26 March 2026
I really needed the day off.
Perhaps it was a little bit of a blessing, but I felt forced out of my apartment this morning. I don’t have internet right now, and there are contractors actively building a new balcony for my building, so there are all kinds of banging and sawing sounds and a tone of concrete dust.
So, I walked over to a local coffee shop and am spending some time writing outside, where it’s very mild out. It’s very relaxing, despite the sounds of construction happening nearby. Nothing some noise-canceling earbuds can’t take care of. If you have an iPhone that can run iOS 26, Apple just released an update which includes a new widget which connects to different mindfulness playlists, so think music for productivity, sleep, or meditation. I love instrumental playlists like this, as sometimes words in songs can be distracting.
This is the first day since this past weekend I haven’t had some form of tension headache. It’s been a stressful week with deadlines and some added chaos from some promotional things going on. I plan on taking a week off from work in about a month, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m hoping to clean my garage and hopefully get out a little. In between times, I’ll happily do very little.
I know with being in retail, there’s joy in solitude, especially as I get older, since I’m around people and chaos on the daily. When I was younger, I felt like I had to get out. Now, I’m happy to get out maybe once a week, and even then, I want to be in relaxed environments. I’m much happier at a bar with an outdoor patio than I am in a nightclub most of the time. I like places where I can connect with people, not just be around them.
For the rest of my day, I’m going to try to stay away from home for a little longer. Might try to meet up with a friend. I definitely need to figure out my internet situation. Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll get to sit outside tonight. Even with the old balcony, I didn’t sit outside much as I had a few birds that liked to call the underside of the balcony above me home. It’ll be nice to have something more stable without the harassment of wildlife.

I’m now that person who leaves the ottoman on the recliner extended because it makes the cat happy.

Songs in the Chaos
This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
