The Thursday Dispatch - 25 June 2026
I’m tired as shit today.
I had yesterday off, and I’m usually better on the second day off in a row. Not today. I think I know the errors in my ways, however.
I was up late until nearly 11 PM last night. I know that's not late for some people, but that’s late for me. Further, I had the TV on and was on my phone doomscrolling, so plenty of screens and noise until late in the evening. None of that was a good recipe to get the kind of physical and mental rest I needed.
One thing my body reminds me a lot of these days is how I just don’t spring back to life the way I used to. I’m 47, it’s bound to happen. But in that, I have to be much more meticulous in how I treat myself. I need to eat right, get enough sleep, exercise appropriately, and get outside to stretch and breathe a little. It helps to drink less or not at all and to meditate. Above all, it helps to protect my peace and happiness at all costs.
When I do the things I need to do, I generally wake up ok. But when any of these things get off track, I can feel it’s off track in the form of fatigue. It’s my reminder to treat myself right and that fun is going to look different than it did 20 years ago.

The Listening
Songs in the Chaos
This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
