I’ve talked about what I call “clearing the cache” before. Sometimes, I’ll brain dump my thoughts out into my paper journal, as discombobulated as they come, as a way of releasing anything pent up in me. I searched “clearing the cache” on DuckDuckGo, and this is what it came up with:
Clearing the cache means deleting these temporary files stored by your browser. This action helps resolve issues related to loading web pages and can enhance your browsing speed. When you clear the cache, your browser is forced to download the most up-to-date versions of the website’s content the next time you visit.
Benefits of Clearing the Cache
- Improved Loading Times: By removing outdated files, your browser can load fresh content, which may resolve issues with slow-loading pages.
- Fixing Glitches: If a website is not functioning properly, clearing the cache can help eliminate problems caused by outdated or corrupted files.
- Freeing Up Storage: Regularly clearing the cache can help free up space on your device, as cached files can accumulate over time.
In short, it’s maintenance that’s needed from time to time. Journaling helps. Sometimes writing here helps. Other times I need real human eye contact and a good conversation. I had one of those conversations this past week, from an ex-girlfriend of all places. Frankly, I’m friendly with most of my exes, being fully comfortable with them just being friends. If it was meant to be otherwise, then it would have been.
It all started with a dinner invite, which I accepted instantly, then instantly regretted. I was tired from work and a nap on my couch sounded more amazing than anything else. But, I went anyway. We had dinner, then we talked for nearly an hour after eating, about music, things going on with friends, and so on. I didn’t realize how much I needed to just sit with another person and have a good conversation. I had a particularly rough week mentally before that and it helped push me in the other direction.
This morning I was dealing with a bit of frustration with people around me, of which I won’t go into detail. But I ended up talking with another close friend for about an hour, and it was what I needed in that moment. I felt heard, but further, I felt seen. Maybe I needed to know I wasn’t the only one going through my particular struggle, and in that, you have instantaneous support. It again was what I needed and helped clear the mental block I was having from writing this morning.
It all goes to say there’s more than one way to clear that garbage in your brain, and it should be done as often as possible. Sometimes that’s pen to paper, sometimes it’s eye to eye. But for our own sanity, it needs to be done.
Weekly Photo

I took this shot last week while roaming around the Omaha Old Market district. I really liked the mood I got from this shot. I’ve started a little collection of photos on my Glass profile of what I see when I’m roaming around down there. Check back from time to time.

Songs in the Chaos
This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
