On hitting the trail.

There’s a likely side effect from when I finally pull the trigger and start riding again. I’m sure to document it. Surely, I’ll write about it. I’m not in shape, at least not in biking shape. I can now go for a two-mile walk with a few hills embedded and keep my average heart rate right around 100 bpm. Hills used to crank my heart rate up to around 130 bpm, where now I’m usually around 115 bpm on those same hills. I’m in decent walking shape.

But, I know once I hop on a bike again, I’ll deal with all kinds of issues. My heart rate will spike, I’ll be short of breath, and my patellar tendon will throb until I’m able to muscle myself up hills again. I already want to talk about this when that day comes. I want to be able to log my own progress, but I also want to share this with others who may be having the same reservations about being active again when pushing 50. I’m no spring chicken, but here I am willing to try.

Another idea I had was to invest in an action cam, with something like the Insta 360. Recording it would give some more depth to my documentation. It would also motivate me to open up Final Cut Pro and dust those skills off a little more. And yes, I would be inclined to share.

All of this culminates into this thought: living life provides chances at creativity, and as someone who feels the need to be creative, I need to live life. This has been evident in my trips to the trails I’ve walked and the coffee shops I’ve visited. It’s evident in the photography I’ve shared. I feel the need to be creative; therefore, I need to go do shit.

So, you’re eventually going to get the sweaty and exhausted me. Maybe even the injured or sore me. It’s all my story, and I want to share that part of it. Here’s to new trails, more coffee shops, and me getting back into it again, because I need to, and why not?

This Past Week

Songs in the Chaos

This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
