The Banshees of Inisherin

I watched this on St. Patrick’s Day because why wouldn’t I watch a critically acclaimed Irish film on this day?

This film is a story between two friends who are no longer friends, simply because one didn’t feel like it anymore. The story exists against the backdrop of the Irish civil war in the 1920s, mirroring the senseless violence, stubbornness, and cruelty of the war itself.

Despite the sad story that exists throughout, the film manages to be a bit of a dark comedy, especially through its dialogue. Without this aspect, this would have been a very depressing watch, but with it I found it quite enjoyable.
