Hardy Coffee Co. (Old Market)
I’ve been meaning to take time to sit inside Hardy for quite a while now, as I’ve gotten coffee from their drive thru location on 144th and picked up beans from their Benson location. But, the Old Market is that place in Omaha that feels more down to earth to me. All the buildings are brick and there’s something about old buildings that feel less synthetic compared to new ones. There’s a coffee shop near my apartment that literally feels like a cheap office with its white walls and florescent overhead lighting. Hardy is none of this.
Hardy has a very large space in the Old Market. There’s outdoor patio seating, tables on the inside with some natural light, or, if you want to be more subdued like I did, you can go to the far end of the space away form any natural light where things are much more ambient. The space seems to absorb sound well, as the two friends chatting it up just a couple tables from me didn’t echo through the place at all. I barely noticed them.

I ordered myself a turtle latte, something that’s becoming a bit of a tester for me. It was very good. I also picked up some bagged coffee from them on the way out.
Overall, I really loved this spot and would come here anytime.
