Astute Coffee

Great coffee. Great mission.
Astute Coffee

A friend and I visited Astute Coffee in downtown Omaha the other day. Astute is run by the Omaha Bike Union, a program that started out helping out foster children through a refurbished bike shop and repair service, but turned to selling coffee a few years back. All of their employees have been foster children, so the goal here is to empower these kids with some real-life job experience in a fun environment. They’re a pretty cool non-profit here in the Omaha area.

I got myself a mocha here, and that was a pretty good cup of coffee. The space they have in the downtown location is pretty cool. The building is round, and there’s plenty of natural light coming into the space. The space overall is very comfortable to be in. I get good vibes in there.

The owner approached us with some samples of what Astute called a Dragon Fruit blend. This place is known for their pour-overs and the mad scientist-type blends they come up with, and the Dragon Fruit one was really good, and I say that as someone who doesn’t drink black coffee often. They have another one here called Gummy Sharks that I’ve heard is equally as amazing. That’s the kind of thing you’re dealing with when it comes to pour-overs here.

All in all, I really love Astute Coffee. Awesome coffee, great mission, and an overall inclusive space to be in. Definitely worth checking out in Omaha.
